WeSUP's Safe Paddler Certification

The Safe Paddler Certification features a series of competency tests that are assessed and signed off by WeSUP’s senior instructors. The course offers a meaningful qualification that marks you as a confident and competent Stand Up Paddlerboarder. It also enables some fantastic freedom benefits when it comes to joining Club WeSUP.

£20 deposit payable upon booking.

 

WeSUP’s Safe Paddler Certificate runs on every other weekend on a Sunday. A maximum of 12 clients per course may enrol on a first come, first serve basis.

Learn To Cope In All Conditions

As WeSUP is the first in the world to offer the pioneering site specific training, you will learn how to cope within a number of scenarios in and around the coastal ocean location and Falmouth harbour. They include the following:

 

  • Advanced paddle skill
     

  • Understanding equipment
     

  • Paddling in wind up to 25mph
     

  • Paddling in waves & SUP Surf etiquette
     

  • Charts and weather forecasting
     

  • Supported tows and emergency action plans
     

  • Journey planning
     

  • Site specific local knowledge

 

Flexible Learning

The Safe Paddler Certification is an entirely practical assessment followed by a small multiple choice test. You will be assessed and passed or failed at the end of each module that you are complete. 

 

Each module is independent meaning that you can complete the course in your own time should you not pass all the modules of the course, but still leave with a certificate detailing the modules that you have passed. Re-assessments are charged at just £10.

Pre Course Enrolment

  • You must be able to paddle at least 2km without rest (or 25minutes)

  • Be able to Swim 100 metres

  • You should not have any pre-existing medical condition that could put you or the group at at risk
